  • Offer practical experience for psychology students, through observation, in the development and implementation of individualized support plans based on assessment findings and person centered goals.

  • Learn to demonstrate competency in areas such as observation, data collection, ethical and legal standards, individual and cultural diversity, professional values, attitudes and behaviors, communication and interpersonal skills, assessment, and intervention.
  • Help students decide what direction they'd like their career to take by giving them the chance to obtain direct experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including behavior intervention specialists, nurses, management and support staff, to provide comprehensive care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Make students more competent by gaining direct experience.
  • Assist in forming good work habits and exposure, to help increase students' marketability when it comes time to look for a job after graduation.
